How to measure a collar without guesswork
Measured fit is the difference between a collar that looks good in a photo and one that works on ordinary walks.
A good collar starts with the resting collar position, not the widest point of the head and not the low shoulder line. Use a soft tape where the collar naturally sits, then leave enough room for two fingers to slide under the band.
If the dog lands between sizes, choose the roomier fit and adjust down. The goal is a collar that feels steady during walks without pressing into the neck when the dog turns, sits, or rests.
Recheck the fit after the first longer walk. Fur, posture, and excitement can change how a collar sits once the day is actually moving.
